PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT AT MARION RICHARDSON
We offer a full programme of course and activities for parents and carers.
We are very fortunate to have the use of two meeting rooms -The parents’ hut at the Senrab Street Site and the training room at the EYFS site.
Courses are delivered at both sites-these could include parenting courses, healthy living workshops, curriculum support, a course on family finance and regular coffee mornings.
We have a Community Cohesion Coordinator -Alison Jones who coordinates the parenting courses, the volunteer training and the schools’ involvement in the wider community. Alison is a trained counsellor and is available to offer support to families who are facing challenges in their lives.
Rumana Begum is our parental support worker and co -ordinates the healthy living workshops, the early words programme and weekly coffee mornings. Rumana is available to help parents complete forms, support in meetings and can offer individual support.
VOLUNTEERING IN SCHOOL.
Each Autumn term, we offer a 10-week accredited course “volunteering in your child’s school.” This course looks at the role of volunteers, the school policies, keeping children safe and how a school is organised. Those parents who successfully complete the course are offered opportunities to volunteer in the school.
